What Google Wifi Mesh Wifi Router does (and why it’s cool)

• Google Wifi is a home mesh Wi-Fi system that replaces your traditional router and provides seamless, reliable Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home. You’ll still need an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and a modem to connect to the internet.
• You can quickly set up multiple Google Wifi devices (we call them “points”) to bring the internet right where you want it —your office, living room, garage, or basement. For a refresher on Wi-Fi terms and concepts, check out our Wi-Fi basics.
• Google Wifi is built on our mesh Wi-Fi technology. Once you set up your mesh network, the Google Wifi points create a high-powered connection and work together to make sure your devices stay on the clearest channel with the fastest bandwidth. The result is fast Wi-Fi everywhere in your house, not just right next to the router. You can even roam throughout the house while on a video call or while streaming a movie without the signal dropping.

Requirements: What you need to use Google Wifi

In addition to at least one Google Wifi point and the Ethernet cable and power adapter that come with it, you need:

• A modem. Google Wifi is a router, not a modem. Your primary Wifi point needs to be connected to a modem with an Ethernet cable (provided). Additional points are wireless; they only need to be connected to a power outlet (although they can be connected to each other via Ethernet, if you prefer).
  Note: If you have a modem + router combo from your internet service provider (ISP), you’ll need to connect your primary Google Wifi point to that device. To ensure that all of your devices are connected to Google Wifi’s network, we recommend that you either turn off your modem + router’s Wi-Fi functionality or set your devices to “forget” your previous network.
• Broadband connection to your IS
• A Google Account
• The latest version of the Google Wifi app on Android or iOS.

Note: We strongly recommend purchasing Google Wifi from the country where you’ll be using it. Since wireless regulations vary by country, you may experience compatibility issues if you move your Wifi device(s) to a different country and Google will be unable to offer support. If you’re setting up a mesh network, we recommend purchasing all of your Wifi points in the same country.

Then connect them to the Ring Bridge to unlock countless combinations and commands.  Make brilliant connections.  Link Ring Smart Lights to Ring doorbells and cameras, and select Alexa-enabled devices with the Ring Bridge. Then create combinations to get the most out of your home security. If one connected Ring Smart Light detects motion, it can activate your entire Ring of Security.  Lights onin minutes.  Use our included toolkit to get the lights up in no time. Simply insert batteries and mount Spotlight in your ideal location for a quick and effective solution.  ‘Alexa, turnon the lights.’  Link Ring Smart Lights to the Ring Bridge and connect with select Alexa-enabled devices to activate Ring Smart Lights and adjust settings at the sound of your voice. Plus, Alexa will let you know when motion is detected, so you’ll never miss a thing.

Nest Protect is designed to detect smoke and carbon monoxide in a residential environment.
It has multiple sensors to help it understand what’s happening in your home and a photoelectric
sensor to detect slow, smoldering fires. Nest Protect can be used as a single station or multiple
station alarm.

Wi-Fi, an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet, and a free Nest Account are required for wireless
mobile notifications and software updates. During set up, Wi-Fi and a free Nest Account are
required for wireless interconnect and room naming. After all the Nest Protects in your home
are connected, they can communicate with each other without Wi-Fi.

The National Fire Protection Association recommends installing a smoke alarm in the following areas:
• On every floor, including finished attics and basements.
• Inside and outside every sleeping area.
• At the top of the first-to-second floor stairway and on the basement ceiling near the entry
of the stairs.
• In homes with more than 1,000 square feet on one level, additional alarms may be required.
Nest Protect should be installed at least 10 ft (3 m) away from cooktops or cooking appliances.
Nest Protect should NOT be installed in unfinished attics or garages.
